The University of Iowa is showing off their recently finished Visual Arts Building.

The $77,000,000 building opened at the beginning of the semester and is currently home to hundreds of art students.

On a media tour Wednesday, University leaders said the building is attracting national attention for its architecture. The building also includes a "green roof," which provide insulation and serves as a water mitigation system when it rains.

The old building, which was heavily damaged in the 2008 flood, remains standing close to the Iowa River. The building has been deemed historic and University officials have not said how they will use it in the future.
