CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - Construction is underway this month on the new Robert W. Plaster Athletic Complex.

The 22-acre property is Mount Mercy's first-ever outdoor athletic facility.

The complex will house six of the University's 17 teams, including soccer, track, baseball, and softball.

"Unfortunately, our outdoor athletes have always had to go some place away from campus and so there was really no true home field advantage," Paul Gavin, Mount Mercy athletic director, said. ""This [facility], for the first time in our history, gives our student-athletes that true home field advantage."

Mount Mercy expects construction to finish by next Summer.
