MARION, Iowa (KCRG) Recent rainfall and melting snow piles in Marion caused an increase of flooding in homes.
ServiceMaster by Rice, a water restoration service in Marion, says Wednesday is one of the busiest days crews have seen all year.
The service has a full crew of six trucks and twelve technicians working until about 10 o'clock at night; responding to homes and basements that were flooded thanks to the rain and snow melt.
Crews say the biggest issue they've seen is water coming through window wells that couldn't handle the weight of the snow along with the heavy rainfall.
"Calls are up about 60 percent. We've got a waiting list right now. So the phone has literally not stopped ringing since we opened up this morning at 8 o'clock," Christopher Johnson said.
Service Master said it could be as late as Saturday before they get through the rush.
