IOWA (KCRG) -- The Iowa Department of Public Health has released some initial figures on the people who are getting medical cannabis cards.
As of November 30, the Department of Transportation had issued 663 cards. Patients in Polk, Linn and Black Hawk County applied for and received the most cards. Patients who had conditions that cannabis could treat were certified by 353 healthcare practitioners. Forty-seven percent of the people who have medical cannabis cards are using them for untreatable pain. Other conditions for treatment include cancer, multiple sclerosis, and seizures.
