Matthew 25, a nonprofit in Cedar Rapids, is now taking applications for this year's Transform Week.

Transform Week happens during the last week of June every year. The group and its volunteers complete home improvement projects for those in need.

Last year Muriyo Mahammud was one of the recipients. Her windows would not close shut, so she would get cold in the winter. Organizers fixed her windows while also doing tile work in her bathroom and fixing up her walls.

“Thank you, thank you, God,” she said. “These people were someone God sent me. I can't afford what I got. Very hard for me."

This will be the fourth year Matthew 25 has done Transform Week.

"These are generally people that often they have had a medical issue,” said Matthew 25 Executive Director Clint Twedt-Ball. “They're single moms, they've been through a significant family trauma, and they’re elderly.”

There are income qualifications. The person also has to own their home.
