Marion celebrates Christmas in the Park
With the echo of horse hooves clacking along the pavement, the sweet sounds of holiday music, and "ho ho ho" from Santa himself, Marion's City Square Park was everything a "winter wonderland" should be despite the lack of snow on Friday evening.
The city held their annual "Christmas in the Park" celebration, with traditional and new activities across the area.
Festivities began with the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Claus and their reindeer on a city fire truck as Santa's pep band cranked up some holiday tunes.
Locals lit up the community's peace tree, indulged in some free hot cocoa and popcorn, and children were warmly welcomed into the arms of Santa and Mrs. Claus to share their Christmas wishes.
Attendees were invited to hop on the Peppermint express to donate to the 'Keep Your Neighbors Warm" campaign as a part of the Marion Holiday Giving Project. The campaign collected new hats, gloves, and blankets.
Events across town included the 'Peppermint Walk", crafts, and a tuba ensemble at the library.
