A man injured in a hit and run accident has died.

A family member of Michael Olson tells TV9 he passed away on October 17.

The accident happened around 3:15 p.m. Sunday, October 1, at 20th Avenue and C Street SW.

The driver of a 2000 Honda Accord crashed into a motorcycle Olson was driving, then ran away.

Olson was taken to Mercy Medical Center where his family said he had a severe brain injury and several broken bones.

He was then rushed to UIHC and is in critical condition in the SNICU (Surgery and Neurosurgical ICU). He later died from the injuries.

"We understand it is a young female with long dark brown or black hair, early 20's, and she was seen running from the scene of the accident heading south," the family said in a statement released after the accident.

Cedar Rapids Police say they are working on locating a suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call CRPD at 319-286-5491.
