IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- A man whom authorities initially charged with first-degree murder in a Coralville cold case is now free.

On Thursday, a judge sentenced Anthony Burtch, 58, to six months in jail with credit for time served, meaning he's completed his sentence.

He pleaded guilty to obstruction of prosecution.

Prosecutors originally charged him with first-degree murder in the death of Lance DeWoody, who was killed in 1985 in Coralville.

Retesting of DNA evidence didn't implicate Burtch in the death.
