One week after a man drove a 30 ton grain truck over a 3 ton weight limit bridge, leading to its collapse, the man is charged.

Justin Hippen faces a charge of violating a weight embargo.

On Friday May 5, Iowa State Patrol says Hippen caused the bridge collapse on Cattle Creek Road in rural Winneshiek County.

Hippen wasn't hurt in the collapse, but his truck got stuck, and a tow truck had to remove it from the bridge.

Crews have been working to remove the debris. The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office says as of Friday, the Upper Iowa is now back open to canoers, kayakers and the like.
