CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Law enforcement agencies across Iowa will participate in the Click or Ticket Campaign in the weeks surrounding the Memorial Day holiday.
The Linn County Sheriff's Office is one saying they will participate in the program which runs from May 21 through June 3.
During that time, law enforcement will be looking for those not using their seat belts.
According to statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 10,428 people were killed in the United Sates in 2016 because they were not buckled up during a crash. That is 48-percent of all people killed in traffic crashes in 2016.
The NHTSA also says men have lower seat belt use rate than women.
