Linn-Mar School District offering counseling after student's death

MARION, Iowa (KCRG) - The Linn-Mar school district is offering counseling at Linn-Mar High School after the death of a student.


The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office says 17-year-old high school junior Jaycee Payne died in a two vehicle crash on Friday.

Payne was a passenger in a truck.The truck's driver, a 17-year-old from Cedar Rapids, will be okay.

Deputies say the teens were on Sundown Road near U-S 151 when the driver lost control on the ice-covered road and another pickup hit them.

Counselors are available available at LMHS from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on December 31 and Tuesday January 1 for any Linn-Mar High School and any Linn-Mar Middle School students who would like to speak with someone.
