Less wind today, snow arrives Saturday

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Plan on quiet weather to continue today and most of tomorrow. We'll have plenty of sunshine around today with highs close to 30. Tomorrow, more clouds will be likely as our next area of low pressure develops to our southwest.

This is the system that will impact our area late Friday night (after midnight) through most of Saturday. This system should be in the form of all snow with a dusting to 2" likely from Cedar Rapids and points north. Iowa City and points south will likely receive 2-4". Due to the light wind during the snowfall, blowing snow is not expected to be a hazard.

Plan on quiet weather to build in on Sunday and last for at least a few days. A cold front arriving around mid-week will signal the next chance of rain or snow.

Some colder winter weather appears about 9 or 10 days away.
