UPDATE: Man arrested after crash, driving on wrong side of road

BLACK HAWK COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Black Hawk County deputies have arrested a man for operating while intoxicated and crashing into a semi-tractor pulling tandem trailers.

Zachary Dickinson, 21, North Liberty, was driving a black Audi Quattro.

This was on Highway 218 near mile marker 185, just after 2 a.m. Saturday, December 9.

Dickinson was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 218 when he collided with a Freightliner semi-tractor and trailers.

The semi-tractor stopped on the east shoulder with damage to the trailers.

The Audi entered the east ditch with extensive front passenger side damage.

Three passing vehicles were also damaged by hitting debris in the roadway.

Dickinson sustained minor non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Allen Hospital by a Deputy to be checked out.

He was then transported to the Black Hawk County Jail.

Dickinson was charged with Operating While Intoxicated -1st Offense.

He was also cited for Driving on the Wrong Side of the Highway and Failure to Maintain Control.

The driver of the semi was uninjured.

The northbound lanes of Highway 218 had to be closed for several hours while the scene was cleared.

Deputies were assisted on scene by Iowa State Patrol, Waterloo Police and Fire, and Ray Mounts Towing.
