Neighbors are now suing Iowa City to block plans for a home modeled after Kinnick Stadium.

The Neighbors of Manville Heights Association filed a lawsuit against the Iowa City Board of Adjustment Wednesday. It asks a judge for an injunction to block construction of the home and repeal the city's building permit for it.

A Decorah couple wants to build the home modeled after Kinnick Stadium on Lusk Avenue. The plans include stadium seating, stadium-style restrooms, a courtyard and several bedrooms.

Neighbors protested during several hearings on the request for a building permit. Most neighbors worried the home would become a party house and create traffic and safety issues. They argued it did not fit standards for a single-family home.

The Board of Adjustment, however, granted the permit saying the home met all of the city's guidelines.

No date is set for a hearing on the lawsuit.
