WASHINGTON, D.C. (KCRG-TV9) -- Iowa Congressman Steve King says he's a big supporter of President Trump signing a bill that helps stop illicit drugs from coming into the U.S.

Representative King was in the oval office Wednesday when Trump signed a bill called the INTERDICT Act. It provide portable chemical screening devices to Border Agents so they can check packages and travelers.

King calls it a significant step forward in the fight against powerful opioids like fentanyl.

He released a statement saying these additional tools are a "common sense solution to an opioid crisis exacerbated by Mexican drug cartels."
