Johnson County Republicans Chairwoman Cyndi Michael told TV9 their headquarters were vandalized two weeks ago.
Michael said vulgar signs were placed at the front entrance and used tampons were left on the ground about two weeks ago. Another member, David Barker, said he was stunned but given the national mood it shouldn't be a surprise. He also said, either way, they're not going to let it scare them off.
"I think it's a sign that things are moving in the wrong direction but we're doing fine and our office is operating just fine," said Barker. "It's just a minor annoyance."
The signs have since been taken down and the entrance is cleared out. Iowa City Police report a request for extra patrol was also made to the address.
