Iowa Congressman defending president's description of developing countries

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCCI) - Conservative firebrand Steve King, an eight-term Republican who represents Iowa’s 4th Congressional District, defended President Donald Trump’s controversial remarks asking why the U.S. allows “people from s----hole countries (to) come here.”

In a Washington Post article published Thursday, Trump reportedly made the vulgar comment to lawmakers before suggesting that immigrants from more developed countries such as Norway come to the United States instead.

Trump said Friday morning on Twitter that he didn’t say anything “derogatory” about developing countries, namely Haiti, but did say the island nation in the Caribbean is a “very poor and troubled country.”

A wave of criticism flooded social media after the Washington Post published the article, but King, an avid Trump supporter, came to the president’s defense, tweeting, “Hang in there Mr. President @realDonaldTrump. If those countries aren’t as you described, Democrats should be happy to deport criminal aliens back to them. &End #AnchorBabies, too.”
