CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- As the search for Mollie Tibbets continues, a former FBI profiler said she believes it's likely Tibbetts left with someone she knew.
"I think the most likely scenario is that Mollie was at least somewhat familiar with the person that she went with, or the person that she went with was someone that she viewed as non-threatening to her," said former FBI profiler, Mary Ellen O'Toole.
O'Toole said in the wake of people close to the investigation offering theories of their own as to how Tibbetts may gave gone missing, that it is important to remember their motivations.
"They really want to be involved in what’s happening, they want to try and do something," said O'Toole. "So even if they make statements that seem to be more speculation than anything, it’s so often done because they’re just trying to generate ideas and generate leads."
O'Toole adds in her view it's okay if people post potential leads concerning efforts to finds Tibbetts to social media. But she thinks they should also provide those tips directly to law enforcement.
