A school bell dating to 1926 was returned to Sageville Elementary.

The bell belonged to Adeline Klingeman who taught at Sageville from 1926 to 1930. She used it to call kids into the school.

On Friday, the school held an assembly to welcome the bell back.

Klingeman's daughter Nancy Anderson said it's been a family heirloom.

"My earliest years I can always remember the bell being displayed in our home," she said. "And when she (her mother) died, my sister well you're the teacher, you take it."

Now Anderson is downsizing, and asked if the school would be interested in keeping it.

Anderson rung the bell in front of the school and told them her mom would say to be nice to each other, respect their teachers and read a book a day.
