Drivers going through Hiawatha may notice a main intersection open again for the first time in months.
Work at the intersection of Emmons Street and Center Point Road in Hiawatha closed off the main access to Hiawatha’s City Hall. The street was actually closed twice beginning last fall. It was reopened last winter when construction season was over and closed again this spring to finish the project.
Now, it’s open for good.
One city engineer says other road construction work going on at the intersection will wrap up by November. But no more road closings will be needed for the project.
