Another muggy and warm night is ahead as we only drop into the 70s again overnight. Most of us will just see a mostly clear to partly cloudy sky, but our far northern towns, north of Highway 20, may see a shower or storm during the early morning hours on Monday.

Better chances for storms will arrive Monday late afternoon and evening, as a cold front drops south into eastern Iowa. There is plenty of energy in the atmosphere for the storms to work with, so a few storms may be on the strong side with strong winds and hail being the main threats. Also, heavy rain will also be in the cards as the storms would have plenty of moisture to work with and are expected to be fairly slow moving. Storms will continue through Monday evening with isolated activity possible overnight and early Tuesday.

The front will then hang up just to our south during the rest of the week, meaning we’ll have plenty of chances for rain into next weekend. However, because we will be north of the front, the heat will be suppressed to our south.
