A head-on collision near Vinton left two people dead and a third injured Wednesday morning.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office said it happened around 10:15 a.m. a half mile east of Vinton on 61st Street Lane.

Investigators said a smaller SUV was driving west and crossed over the center line on a curve, striking an oncoming pickup head on. The pickup driver had taken to the shoulder trying to avoid a crash.

The SUV driver, 73-year-old Terry Bradshaw, of Mt. Auburn, was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, 73-year-old Evelyn Bradshaw, died a short time later on the way to the hospital.

The Bradshaw's were weather spotters for the KCRG-TV9 First Alert Storm Team.

The sheriff has not provided details on pickup driver's injuries, but has said that person is expected to survive.
