A local radio station is giving girls the prom dresses of their dreams.

KZIA, more commonly know as Z102.9, is collecting used dresses for its annual Gown Town event.

Gown Town opens up for three hours so teens can come in and find their prom dress for no charge. People can donate their gently used prom dress at any Citywide Cleaners Location, the Kirkwood Linn County Regional Center and at Herteen and Stocker Jewelers in Iowa City.

"Please shop Gown Town first. You might not find the dress but you might and just think about that. That's all that money that you're going to be able to save on that big day, because we want an opportunity for everyone in our community to experience prom. It's right of passage for the ladies," Karol Kelley, KZIA promotions director, said.

Gown Town will take place February 23 at the Kirkwood Community College Linn County Regional Center in Hiawatha.
