CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Friends describe Henry Davison as an admirable man. Steve Springer said it was his determination to help others in need after he grew up from nothing that sets him most apart.
"He was someone that was selfless and gave everything he had for the better of somebody else, to his own detriment," said Springer. "That's something you don't see very often. It's just hard to lose somebody you think so much of and you spent so much time talking to."
Springer also holds a position with the Henry Davison Youth Center, which provides academic and social support to at-risk youth. It's meant to be a safe place for kids to go after school. Springer said he first met Davison more than 20 years ago at the Cedar Rapids Blues Society, which Davison also started.
Davison fell at his home Saturday. He died that evening at the age of 92.
