CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - The Franklin St. Brewing Company in Manchester has received a gold level certification from the Iowa Green Brewery Certification.
The Iowa Green Brewery Certification, a program launched by the Iowa Waste Reduction Center (IWRC), awarded Franklin St. Brewing a gold certification based on their implemented sustainability efforts. They are the first brewery to receive a gold certification from the Iowa Green Brewery Certification.
"Our first priority is to the beer, of course. But being able to help the environment while making exceptional beer is very important to us," Kyle Sands, owner/brewer at Franklin Street Brewing Company said.
The IWRC launched the Iowa Green Brewery Certification in effort to provide direct environmental assistance to a rapidly expanding industry. Breweries are awarded certification levels of bronze, silver, gold or platinum based on their sustainability efforts.
“These guys are serious about running their business in a sustainable manner while still crafting an outstanding product,” Joe Bolick, project manager of the Iowa Green Brewery Certification said.
