First baby shark born at Dubuque's National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) - The first baby shark has been born at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium in Dubuque.

Video captured the moment the baby Coral Catshark swam out of its egg on March 15th.

"At a time when shark populations worldwide are threatened due to human activity, this shark pup will help spread a message of hope,” said Andy Allison, Director of Living Collections at the River Museum.

The new shark will be on display in the River Museum’s Conservation Lab for the time being.
