Firefighters Find Man Dead in House After Putting Out Fire

NORTH ENGLISH, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Emergency crews found a North English homeowner dead inside his home Sunday night after they put out a fire.

According to a news release, firefighters responded to 208 South Highland Street in North English about 8:30 p.m. Sunday and found the second story of the home engulfed in flames.

Firefighters found 25-year-old Austin Watson dead inside the home. The State Medical Examiner's Office in Ankeny will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire or how much damage it caused.

The North English Fire Department, North Keokuk County Fire Department, North English First Responders, Iowa County Ambulance and Iowa County Emergency Management responded to this fire.
