The Food and Drug Administration is considering regulating CBD, one of the ingredients in cannabis and often used in medical marijuana.

The FDA will hold a public hearing in May on CBD products so they can hear from people.

CBD is marketed, in some cases, to relieve pain or reduce stress.

In Iowa, people can buy CBD products from five dispensaries with a prescription for a specific medical condition.

Federal officials want to discuss developing a regulatory framework for the use of CBD. The public hearing is set for May 31 in Silver Spring, Maryland.
