UPDATE: Two transported to hospital after 1st Avenue accident

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - Cedar Rapids Police are investigating a crash that left two people trapped beneath a vehicle..

Officers responded at 9:37 a.m. Sunday to a crash in Mikey's Family Restaurant parking lot at 1616 1st Avenue NE. There they found a male and female pinned underneath a vehicle.

Police say a truck backed over them while they were walking in the parking lot. Crews raised the vehicle and were able to remove them.

Cedar Rapids Police confirm an ambulance transported two people to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There are no charges at this time, and the incident is still under investigation.

Emergency crews responded to a report of two pedestrians hit on 1st Avenue near 16th Street Northeast.
