DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) -- City of Dubuque's transportation department wants to have a phone app that would help people ride the Jule buses.

MyRide would allow for real-time bus tracking, trip planning, and alerts. It would also be a helpful tool for people who are new to town or new to riding the buses.

Transportation Services Director Renee Tyler said the department has seen a growing demand for this service.

She said, "a lot of times we get people calling, or emailing, or sending Facebook messages, asking when's the bus here, when's the bus there? So the MyRide app will help people have more real-time access."

She's requesting the $5,600 for this app for the 2020 fiscal year. Tyler said the city Would have the app set up that same year. The city council will finalize that year's budget mid-March.
