School district administrators in Dubuque are feeling the repercussions of a $3 million budget cut.

On Monday night the school board approved a plan to eliminate a couple administrative positions and re-structure other positions.

Effective July 1st, the district will cut two district officials positions. Those cuts include, The Associate Superintendent position, currently held by Lynne Devaney and the Director of Special Education position currently held by Rozy Wader. Those two cuts will save the district $340,000.

As of now, the district does not have plans to move either of those employees to other school district positions.

On Monday Superintendent Stan Rheingans also unveiled other district-level cuts.

Those cuts would bring total budget reductions to a little more than $2 million.

That leaves roughly another $1 million in cuts that will come from the classroom. That could include teachers, para-professionals and school staff.

Rheingans plans to sit down with school principals sometime in the next two weeks to decide which teachers and staff they will cut.
