EAST DUBUQUE, Ill. (KCRG-TV9) -- A Dubuque County man faces prison time for a 2014 crash on the Julien Dubuque Bridge that killed one person.

In a plea deal with Jo Daviess County prosecutors, Cody Berry of Durango pleaded guilty to aggravated driving under the influence in exchange for dropping five other charges.

East Dubuque, Illinois Police said Berry was driving east across the bridge about 2:30 a.m. on November 17, 2014 when he crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a semi-truck.

A passenger in Berry's vehicle, 18-year-old Gavin Gremmel of Dubuque, died from injuries suffered in the crash. Berry and the semi driver also suffered injuries.

The Jo Daviess County State's Attorney said on April 21 a judge will sentence Berry to 3 years in prison and 2 years supervised release. Berry must serve 85 percent of the prison before being eligible for release.
