Court documents show the man accused of killing an Iowa woman in a drunk driving crash in Minnesota, had a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit.

The crash happened on Highway 19, near I-35, early Sunday morning in Rice County. That's just south of the Twin Cities.

Just minutes before the crash, a concerned driver had called 911 to report an S-U-V going the wrong way on the highway.

Authorities say Brandon Dellwo was driving that S-U-V when it crashed head-on into the car 29-year-old Kacy Merseal from Des Moines was driving. Merseal died.

She was returning from a Bruno Mars concert in the Twin Cities.

Authorities have charged Dellwo with vehicular homicide while under the influence of alcohol. First responders took him to the hospital, then authorities arrested him and took him to jail. That's where they tested his blood alcohol level, which came in at .226 percent.

Kacy Merseal had recently graduated from the Drake Law School. Her fiance says he's glad to know know Merseal had such a wonderful experience of the Bruno Mars concert before her death.

"If you go out and have a drink, that's fine but be responsible. Call someone. Call a cab. It's not worth it to get into an accident and so many more people are going to be impacted than you can even imagine," said Merseal's fiance Vitboun Saysopha.

The two were to be wed next spring.

A friend of Merseal's was also in the car. She was not seriously hurt.
