Body found in search for missing Luther College student

DECORAH, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Authorities have found a body in the search for a missing Luther College student.

Winneshiek County sheriff's deputies found Bjorn Norderhaug's body around 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the Upper Iowa River near Clay Hill Road outside of Decorah.

Norderhaug's friends had not seen or heard from him since around 2 a.m. Saturday. He was last seen at The Corner Bar in Decorah about a mile and a half away from the Luther College campus.

Norderhaug was 21 years old from Eden Prairie, Minnesota. He was studying computer science.

In a statement, Luther College president Paula Carlson said: "The Luther community is devastated by this loss and continues to pray for Bjorn's family. We ask that the community come together and support one another in this difficult time."

Luther College held prayer and remembrance Sunday night in the Center for Faith and Life Recital Hall.
