Decorah Police Say Dogs Detected Drugs in High School Lockers

DECORAH, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- An 18-year-old Decorah High School student is facing drug charges after police used two K-9 units to search the school.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports police conducted the search Friday based on an ongoing drug investigation and was not random.

The K-9s detected the presence of illegal drugs in two lockers. Police arrested John Jenkins for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia as a result of the search.

Police said they're also referring two juveniles to Juvenile Court Services on charges.

The Decorah High School principal and associate principal wrote a letter about the search which was distributed to parents Friday.
