DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) - Untreated wastewater flowed onto Saunders Street and into the storm sewer system Wednesday. The city says it was due to a clogged sanitary sewer line.

The City of Dubuque Public Works Department says they were notified about the issue around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Crews were able to remove the blockage and direct the flow back into the pipe by 8:30 a.m.m.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says people should keep pets and kids away from the area for 48 hours.
