Crisis Center starts 'Project Holiday' raising money for holiday meals
An annual effort to feed the hungry during the holidays has started in Johnson County.
Friday, the Crisis Center of Johnson County kicked off "Project Holiday."
Each year the program collects money to buy meals for people in need around Christmas time. Last year it distributed nearly 2,000 meals. And this year it hopes to give out even more.
"We have about 100 sites in and around Johnson County that have displayed project holiday tags, so just grab a tag, take it home and that's a nice reminder to send in a gift, $25 buys a holiday meal for a family and every little bit helps." said Sara Sedlacek of the Crisis Center.
Project Holiday organizers hope to feed more than 4,000 people this holiday season.
