Couple arrested for robbery at Dubuque Hardee's

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) - Investigators in Dubuque have arrested a couple following a robbery at a fast food restaurant.

The robbery happened at about 5:15 a.m. Thursday at the Hardee's restaurant located at 4860 Asbury Road.

Police said two employees were preparing to open the restaurant when a man with a mask came into the store, showed a handgun and assaulted a woman. The man took money from a safe before leaving.

Investigators used a witness description and traffic camera footage to identify a suspect.

William Arthur Brown, 40, of Dubuque, was found at his residence and admitted to the robbery. He's been charged with first-degree robbery.

Police said William's wife, Mary Ann Brown, 37, was an employee at the restaurant and worked with her husband to commit the robbery. She was charged with first-degree robbery.

The couple is also charged with child endangerment for leaving a child unattended at home while the robbery happened.
