Couple accepts plea deal in abuse case

URBANDALE, Iowa (WOI) -- A metro couple accused of kidnapping and abusing a disabled woman have accepted a plea deal.

Court documents show that Fifty-one-year-old Katrina Eubanks and 54-year-old Garry Eubanks, bathed Airionna Bent in a bathtub full of bleach and other chemicals, causing severe burns from the waist down.

The Eubanks were caregivers through Mosaic, an organization that provides services to patients with intellectual disabilities.

According to Carol Mau, executive director of Mosaic, the Eubanks had passed all of the background checks.

Local 5 spoke with Airionna, she believes the couple should have gotten life in prison. She adds, that they did not seem remorseful for the atrocities committed against her daughter.

The Eubanks will be sentenced March 2018.
