Officers arrested the daughter of Johnson County’s top prosecutor for marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Marijuana possession is a serious misdemeanor. The paraphernalia charge is a simple misdemeanor.
According to court records, 18-year-old Gabrielle Lyness Wadsworth was pulled over after she went the wrong way down a one way street around 1:20 this morning. Iowa City officers write in the complaint that the department’s K-9 alerted to the odor of narcotics and then they searched the vehicle. They say they found marijuana, a homemade smoking device and a grinder in her purse.
Officers booked Wadsworth into the Johnson County jail at 2:29 a.m. She was released from the jail at 3:15 a.m.
County Attorney Janet Lyness said the Muscatine County Attorney’s Office will handle the case because of the conflict of interest.
