Congressman Rod Blum is not attending the Republican National Convention this week. Instead, he is door knocking in eastern Iowa, including in Manchester, where he was on Tuesday.

Congressman Blum told TV9 he believes spending time campaigning in Iowa is a better place to be this week.

"I thought it would be a better use of my time to be out door knocking this week. We also have constituent's fairs this week and also, one of the favorite things, I love to do is bring medals to veterans and I'm going to be doing that as well this week," Blum said.

He plans to go door-to-door in the Cedar Rapids area Wednesday.

Congressman Blum did not watch much of the convention on Monday night, but is pleased with what he has seen. He is also happy that any protesting that has taken place has not been violent.
