Cold temperatures tonight lead to snow on Sunday

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Bundle up tonight as cold conditions will prevail under clear skies. Temperatures will drop below zero as clouds slowly start to make more of an appearance heading into Sunday. During the afternoon and evening on Sunday, light snow will develop across eastern Iowa, and continue into early Monday morning. Accumulations of 1-3’’ are likely, with the heaviest totals aimed at far northeastern Iowa. Also of note will be the strengthening northwesterly winds Sunday overnight and Monday. The snow will be dry and fluffy, and easily blow around by those winds, causing some drifting and visibility issues at times. Heading back to work on Monday will likely be slick in some areas. After several cold days following the snow, we’ll warm back up into the 30s and 40s by the end of the week.
