Child dies in Mason City house fire

Just two days after a child died in a

, Mason City police said a child has died in another house fire.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports a neighbor saw the house on fire around 10:55 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of 13th Street NE. After calling authorities the neighbor attempted to alert the home's residents.

Firefighters found the single story house fully engulfed when they arrived. Crews put out the fire by 3 a.m. They said the house sustained extensive damage to the front and roof.

Authorities have not yet released the child's name or age.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
