CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - A woman was arrested at the scene of a house fire on an outstanding warrant Sunday night, officials said Monday.

Kari Marie Kutcher, 35, was arrested for failure to appear on a first offense consumption of alcohol in a public place charge.

At around 9:33 p.m. on Sunday, August 19, a Cedar Rapids Fire Department crew responded to the report of smoke coming from the home located at 1522 D Avenue NE. Firefighters found a small cooking fire inside the home, which caused heavy smoke that required ventilation of the home but no fire damage to the property.

Nobody was located in the home, but Kutcher was found outside the home. She attempted to gain entry multiple times while firefighters were operating in the home and eventually was allowed to make sure it was secure and to ensure the safety of two dogs inside the residence. After this, she was taken into custody for the arrest warrant.

Kutcher appeared in court on Monday and pleaded guilty her charge. She was ordered to pay and fine and court costs totaling $147.75.

Editor's Note: An earlier version of this story said that Kutcher was arrested for the attempts to enter the home while firefighters were inside based on information from the Cedar Rapids Fire Department. Cedar Rapids Police later clarified that she was arrested on the outstanding warrant.
