Here is his full letter:
Hello Staff Members,
I would like you to hear from me personally that I have been chosen as a finalist to be interviewed for the position of Superintendent of Waukee. The decision to apply for this position was not made lightly and was made with a great deal of thought, in partnership with my family, over the course of more than a month.
Please know that my passion for and commitment to the Cedar Rapids Community School District and the important work underway remains unrelenting. At the same time, the opportunity presented in Waukee is one which my family and I have determined is important to pursue. Please also be aware I was selected as a finalist last evening and Waukee has communicated this to their staff and families. If you have happened to hear of this prior to receipt of this email, please know that my intent would have been for you to first hear this from me.
I will be interviewed in Waukee next week. Regardless of the outcome, I will be working in a school district and community which are equally important to me and with educators whose passion and expertise I deeply admire and support.
Thank you for all of the work you do every day with and for our students.
