CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Cedar Rapids public works crews are making preparations for possible flooding following a warmup over the next week.
The Cedar River is expected to crest early next week in Cedar Rapids at 15-and-a-half feet, according to the National Weather Service's report from Tuesday.
Cedar Rapids Public Works Director Jen Winter said, at that level, most people won't notice any effects.
The city has been inventorying its response equipment and getting ready just in case.
"In some locations where we know that, as soon as the river comes up, we'll have to do some plugging of storm sewers and some underground work. We'll likely start that a little bit later this week," Winter said.
Winter said public works will continue to monitor National Weather Service reports over the next several days as forecasts can change.
