The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has announced Cedar Rapids will receive the second production facility in the state for medical cannabidiol.
The IDPH announced on June 29 they plan on issuing a Medical Cannabidiol Manufacturer license to Iowa Relieve, LLC.
The company in Cedar Rapids will be required to start distributing products by July 1, 2019.
MedPharm in Des Moines is currently the only production facility in Iowa. They are required to have products available to be distributed by December 1.
“As the program stands today, though, with its restrictive laws, it will not serve Iowans as intended. We hope that, together with Iowa Relief, we can provide qualified Iowans with the products they need and continue to champion a more inclusive, effective program that improves the quality of life for all those impacted," Dr. Chris Nelson, owner of MedPharm Iowa said.
