CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The City of Cedar Rapids says their Christmas Tree Lighting will be held November 24 at Green Square.

This year the 25-foot Colorado Blue Spruce tree is coming from the 1200 block of 40th Street Court NW by Janet Walker.

The Christmas tree will be transported, set, and decorated on Monday before the Saturday event.

Saturday festivities will begin with children's activities at the Cedar Rapids Public Library from 4-5 p.m.

After a storytelling, music by the Sweet Adelines will be performed in Green Square from 5-5:30 p.m.

The tree lighting will take place at 5:30 p.m.

Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation say they'll be collecting donations for 'Toys for Tots' at the tree lighting. Books and new unwrapped toys will be accepted.
