CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The City of Cedar Rapids has been placed under a snow emergency until 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Cars should not be parked on emergency snow routes, the city said in a press release.

"Vehicles parked on designated Snow Routes after a Snow Emergency has been declared may be ticketed and/or towed," the release said.

The city is asking residents to follow the odd/even parking rule on residential streets through Feb. 14. On odd calendar days, park on the odd-address side. On even calendar days, park on the even calendar days.

The city said the odd/even parking system allows plows to clear the roads efficiently.
