Card skimmer found on DBQ Fas Mart gas pump

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Employees at the Fas Mart, 2175 Central Avenue, found a suspected credit card skimmer on one of their gas pumps on July 10 at around 10:40 a.m.

The device was found on Pump 3, and employees immediately shut down the pump.

Skimmers are illegal credit card readers that attach to electronic payment terminals and steal data off a card's magnetic strip without the cardholder's knowledge.

Dubuque Police and Fas Mart employees don't know how long the skimmer was attached to the gas pump or if any data was recorded by the skimmer. An investigation is ongoing at this time.

Officials recommend that you notify your financial institution and monitor your accounts if you recently used this pump.
